Science Week at Windrush Valley Private School Oxfordshire blasted off in style with pupils from Year 1 and Year 2 becoming virtual space astronauts for a day.
Pupils split into working groups to workshop the types of experiments and activities an astronaut might perform in space. The children were then encouraged to share their ideas by presenting them to the other groups, providing details of the experiments and the results they hoped would be achieved. Pupils also learned about the history of space travel, planets, and the solar system.

Finally, the children blasted off into space, courtesy of fully immersive Virtual Reality (VR) headsets. All pupils blasted off simultaneously and piloted their own research vessel around planets and moons. The VR experience helped boost learning as well as amplifying imagination and interest.
