A Term of Discovery and Delight in Nursery and Reception
This term has been filled with excitement and learning for our Nursery and Reception classes. From interacting with ducklings to engaging in creative projects and sports, our youngest pupils have had a term brimming with new experiences and joyous moments.
Ducklings: A Quacking Good Time
The highlight of the term has undoubtedly been the arrival of the ducklings. Watching these adorable creatures grow and develop provided a unique, hands-on learning opportunity for the children. They delighted in holding the ducklings, observing them swim and play, and learning about their life cycle. This close interaction with nature sparked curiosity and wonder, reinforcing lessons about care, growth, and the natural world.
Sports Day: A Display of Enthusiasm and Team Spirit
Our Sports Day was a wonderful event where children showcased their energy and enthusiasm. Each child gave their best, participating in various races and activities as part of their house teams. It was heartwarming to see their determination and teamwork, and the cheers of encouragement from their peers and families added to the atmosphere. Every child’s effort, no matter how big or small, was celebrated, fostering a sense of achievement and camaraderie.
Chiltern Charity Day: Pirates and Mermaids Adventure
The Chiltern Charity Day brought a wave of fun and fantasy as the children dressed up as pirates and mermaids. The afternoon was filled with imaginative play, including treasure hunts and acting on a makeshift pirate ship. This event not only provided a fun break from routine but also helped the children develop their creativity and social skills. The excitement of pretending to be pirates and mermaids created lasting memories and reinforced the importance of giving back through charity.
Curriculum Enrichment Week: Exploring Art and Creativity
Curriculum Enrichment Week was another highlight, with activities designed to inspire creativity and broaden horizons. The children studied the Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, exploring primary colours and creating their own masterpieces in his iconic style. In Reception, the children made Mondrian-inspired ice lollies using red, yellow, and blue, which was both an artistic and delicious project. Nursery children enjoyed painting mugs and meeting a local author and illustrator. This visit included a reading session and role-playing activities, which brought stories to life and encouraged a love for literature and art.
Theatre Trip: A Magical Experience
A trip to Tudor Hall to watch the Year 5-6 production of “Frozen” was a magical experience for the children. They were captivated by the performances and returned to school singing “Let It Go” with boundless enthusiasm. This outing provided a wonderful introduction to theatre and the performing arts, sparking imaginations and allowing the children to appreciate live performances.
Visit to Kingham Sculpture Park
Our school trip to Kingham Sculpture Park was an adventure filled with discovery. The children enjoyed searching for sculptures, meeting various animals, and sharing snacks in the sunshine. This excursion combined art appreciation with outdoor exploration, offering a balanced experience of learning and play.
A Term to Remember
This term has been a vibrant blend of learning, creativity, and fun for our Nursery and Reception classes. The experiences and activities have not only enriched their knowledge but also fostered a sense of community and joy. As we look forward to the next term, we are excited to continue this journey of discovery and growth with our wonderful children.
