Windrush Valley Private School Oxfordshire has a rich heritage in competitive sport. The school plays competitive sport in athletics (track and field), swimming, cross-country, football, rugby, hockey, and netball. We are extremely proud that for the last 10 years our pupils have competed at a national level at the Independent Schools Association championship.

In addition, Windrush Valley Private School Oxfordshire regularly competes at sport with other Oxfordshire school teams. Our latest inter-school game involved our Year 5 and Year 6 boys travelling to Rendcomb College to play an under 11s football match. It actually turned out to be two games in quick succession. The first match was against the Rendcomb College B team, which we won 2-0. The next match was against their A team who came fresh into the game without having to play a match earlier in the day. Nevertheless, the game remained at 0-0 with some fantastic saves made by our keepers until a wayward bounce sent the ball goal bound in the final minute. The Windrush Valley Private School Oxfordshire team played with skill and great sportsmanship throughout both games, and they should feel very proud of their play.

Our next sporting competition

Our next competitive sporting event involves a group of pupils from Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6 represent the school at the Independent Schools Association cross country championship. It is an annual event in which our teams often excel and perform exceptionally well.

School team selection

On a broader note about school teams, as with all aspects of school life at Windrush Valley Private School Oxfordshire, we challenge our pupils to be the best they can. We encourage them to reach beyond the norm, whatever their abilities. We coach, inspire, and nurture children in all aspects of their schooling, including sport. Children selected to represent the school at all sporting venues and events represent the school with pride.
