A Pupil’s Perspective: Highlights from Windrush Valley Prep School Residential and Space Week

At Windrush Valley Prep School, we believe in giving our pupils experiences that go beyond the classroom, sparking curiosity and creating lasting memories. Two of our Year 4 pupils, Noah and Ava, have shared their exciting accounts of recent school events: the residential trip to Holland and Space Week.

Noah’s Adventure: The School Residential to Holland

“In Holland, we went to a museum about the body called Corpus. On the same day we went to a clogs and cheese factory called Clara Maria. The next day we went to a village full of windmills called Zaanse Schans and Space Expo which was, not surprisingly, about space. Our final full day was at a theme park named Efteling, which has a ride called The Baron which has a vertical drop, luckily there is also a calm and relaxing boat ride. There were a lot of roller coasters which had a ton of loop-the-loops and also a ride that dunked you under water.”

“Every night before bed we would play some games, sometimes we did Bingo, we also did a quiz night, a talent show and even karaoke! The hotel we stayed in (which was called Stay OK) also had a playground with stuff like, monkey bars, a climbing frame and also a tightrope with a second rope for balance, all over a sandpit. Near the first sandpit there was another that had a volleyball net, so you could play volleyball but no-one used it that much.”

Ava’s Account: Space Week

“In Space Week, we made eggnauts and we made rockets for our eggnauts which we dropped and hoped that the eggs didn’t crack! We also went to the We the Curious museum in Bristol which was about two hours away. At the museum we saw the planetarium show which we had to put these special sunglasses on to make the planets look 3D. Back at school, we made space paintings inspired by Peter Thorpe, where we marbled planets and we drew and coloured them in with oil pastels.”

Memories to Treasure

Noah and Ava’s accounts capture the essence of life at Windrush Valley Prep School: a place where learning is enriched by unforgettable experiences. Whether exploring a new country or delving into the mysteries of space, our pupils embrace every opportunity to learn, grow, and make memories that last a lifetime.
