It’s been a fulfilling half-term for our Year 1 pupils, brimming with enriching experiences across various subjects. In English, they embarked on an imaginative journey through ‘The Adventures of Egg Box Dragon’ by Richard Adams. From envisioning the appearance of the dragon to crafting beautiful illustrations, our students delved into the world of descriptive language, using adjectives to breathe life into their creations. Collaborating with peers, they transformed recycled materials into remarkable dragon models, fostering teamwork and creativity. Next, they honed their writing skills by crafting instructions on crafting an egg box dragon, mastering imperative verbs and punctuation along the way.

Journeying Through the Annals of History: Toys Through Time
In History lessons, the theme of Toys took centre stage as pupils delved into the fascinating evolution of playthings over time. Exploring the materials, mechanisms, and significance of toys, they gained insight into the cultural and historical contexts of childhood pastimes. Sharing their cherished toys with classmates, they reflected on the personal significance of these objects, fostering a deeper appreciation for the role of play in their lives.
A highlight of the term was a memorable field trip to Banbury Museum, where the children delved into the history of toys and explored their mechanisms firsthand. While relishing the opportunity to interact with toys from bygone eras, they unanimously favoured the modern playthings of today, a testament to the timeless allure of contemporary innovation.

From understanding internet safety protocols to mastering the basics of computer logins and trackpad usage, they developed crucial technological competencies. Guided by their teachers, they enhanced their typing skills, laying a foundation for future digital literacy.
